Welcome to Knowles Lodge, luxury bed and breakfast accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales set in the heart of Wharfedale, between Appletreewick and Barden.

A family house built in 1938/9, we have lovingly restored and refurbished the magnificent Canadian-style ranch house and created a stylish, attractive, comfortable and tranquil oasis for our guests. Our stunning B & B acommodation in the Yorkshire Dale is set on a natural plateau and surrounded by 16 acres of meadow and woodland, Knowles Lodge enjoys breathtaking views in every direct ion, but in particular, over Black Park and towards Simon’s Seat.

We’re within easy reach of some of the Yorkshire Dales’ most spectacular beauty spots and surrounded by places of valuable historical heritage. The location is perhaps unsurpassed in Wharfedale.

Knowles Lodge is a perfect first night stop for Dales Way walkers starting from Ilkley. The ROUTE runs through our bottom meadow and wood alongside the River Wharfe, the natural South-West boundary to the estate. To save you walkers packing and unpacking each night we’re more than happy to pick you up from Ilkley and run you back to the start the following morning – this gives you two nights acommodation in the Yorkshire Dales with us and saves baggage carrying charges too. We have, on occasion, happily made a similar arrangement for the day after. Whether you want to walk, cycle, fish or simply relax and enjoy the scenery, you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.
