Knowles Lodge overlooks the Dales Way as it passes through Howgill at Map ref: CHECK THIS The route runs up from Barden to the east of the river Wharfe and swings right up through a farmyard  at Howgill to  join the ROAD NUMBER for 75 yds as it crosses Fir Beck before turning left into Knowles Lodge's drive completing a first day walk from Ilkley of approx. 11 miles..

If you choose to organise your own accommodation you may have difficulty in finding suitable accommodation in Ilkley the night before or further up the route the day after. We are always happy to look after you the night before or night after and return you to the start in Ilkley or pick you up at the end of the day after's walk, bring you back to Knowles Lodge and run you back the following morning to where ever you'd finished the afternoon before.
