Knowles Lodge is licensed to hold Civil Wedding ceremonies and we offer exclusive use of the house and grounds for weddings. You can be married on the beach in Barbados but in England the law requires that a marriage ceremony must take place in a permanent building so you cannot be married in a tent or marquee. What makes Knowles Lodge perhaps unique is that you can be married on the covered terrace with it's spectacular views overlooking the River Wharfe.
For small intimate weddings of up to 12 guests we use the drawing romm and dining room for receptions and either buffets or sit down meals. For up to 30 guests we have a brand new marquee with windows that can be opened and closed depending upon the weather. In case of bad weather the guests can still watch the ceremony take place in the comfort of the marquee.
For larger wedding we use either traditional marquees or the more informal Indian ti-pi These are erected on the back lawn and can cater for up to 120 guests. With receptions in excess of 30 guests both a portable generator and mobile loos are required which are conveniently sited at the rear of the house near the marquee or ti-pi. There is plenty of space for parking in the bottom meadow where some guests also choose to camp as well. There is plenty of local accommodation both in terms of B. & B.'s, pubs and hotels. Skipton is only seven miles away and has plenty of further accommodation. A local mini bus is available to collect guests from where they're staying and return them after the reception is over. We can provide anything from a nineteenth century carousel to a chocolate fountain and a face painter - hugely popular witgh children and and nearley as popular with adults!
We charge a site fee dependent upon numbers and require that all four bedrooms are taken the night of and the night before the wedding. We discuss what you would like but, since no two weddings are the same, we don't have price lists. We don't believe in the idea of beverage packages and will suggest various drinks oprions including a pay bar. We can give you guidance about arranging a date with the registrar, food and drink, flowers, wedding cakes, ladies to 'dodo' hair and make-up etc. bands, and discos,
Our role is to help you decide what you want and then make sure you get it.
